It’s More Than Just Hair

Sure, we might be discussing the perfect layers or the bold new color you’ve been dreaming about, but the real magic happens beyond the surface. Hair is deeply personal—it’s how we present ourselves to the world, how we celebrate change, and even how we reclaim our confidence. My job isn’t just to create a style; it’s to create a moment where you feel truly seen, valued, and empowered.

What I love most about hairstyling is the connection it fosters. It’s a chance to hear your stories, share a few laughs, and maybe even uncover a little bit of who you are at your core. Every snip of the scissors or sweep of the brush is part of a bigger journey—one where the conversation takes center stage. When you leave my chair, I want you to feel like the best version of yourself, not because of the way your hair looks, but because of how you feel on the inside when you walk out that door. After all, it’s never just about the hair—it’s about celebrating you.

  • Every client is unique, and so is their hair journey. I take the time to actively listen—your lifestyle, daily hair habits, life aspirations, fears and your hair goals. From there, I assess your hair’s texture, condition, and natural movement to craft a look that reflects your personality, what you hair is wanting and what would complement your features. No matter if it’s a bold transformation or subtle refresh, I believe in creating styles that are as functional as they are beautiful, tailored specifically to you.

  • Doing hair can be extravagant, glamorous, and exciting; which is probably why so many are drawn to it initially. Others, because they think it will be easy money, not grasping it’s still in the service industry. Don’t get me wrong, the hair industry can be all of that and so much more! It just depends on what you’re willing to invest and what you’re prepared to give up in return. Just like any career or industry, you can only go as far as you want. I didn’t get into hair for any of those reasons, it was more accidentally.

  • I believe creativity thrives on curiosity. I’m constantly learning, through online workshops, research, keeping up with evolving trends, or drawing inspiration from the textures and colors in nature and art. My clients also help inspire me; they are always willing to try something new or bring me a new challenge. Every appointment is an opportunity to try something new and push boundaries, all while staying true to their vision.

What’s a common misconception about hair that you wish more people understood?

Many people think a hair appointment is just about the hair transformation, but it’s so much more than that. It's a chance to reconnect with yourself, to gain confidence not only in how you look but in how you feel. It’s one of the few places where you can truly let your hair down, both literally and figuratively. It’s a space to be your authentic, vulnerable self, where the focus is entirely on you.

The connection between a hairstylist and a client often goes beyond the hair—it's about conversation, trust, and creating a moment where you feel seen, heard, and cared for. This is why I approach hairstyling as more than a service, it's a connection and an experience designed to help you walk away feeling like the best version of yourself, inside and out.

  • For me, it’s about helping people express who they truly are, outside of the boxes society tries to put us in. I’ve always believed that beauty isn’t a one-size-fits-all. It’s not about following trends or fitting into traditional standards. It’s about embracing individuality and celebrating our uniqueness; no matter if it’s bright and spunky or dark and understated. It’s about feeling confident in our own skin, not because we’re conforming to a standard, but because we’re fully embracing who we are meant to be.

I also challenge norms by encouraging open conversations in my space. Whether we’re talking about our favorite conspiracy theory, breaking free from the societal expectations that confine us, or just sharing a laugh, I make sure to leave space for everyone. I want my clients to leave feeling not just transformed on the outside but also more empowered and seen on the inside. Hairstyling is my way of creating ripples of change—one person, one style, one conversation at a time.

  • In various cultures, hair is imbued with profound spiritual significance, symbolizing more than mere physical appearance. For instance, in many Native American traditions, hair is considered an extension of the self, embodying thoughts and spiritual energy. Cutting one's hair during periods of mourning serves as a tangible expression of grief and a means to release sorrow.

Similarly, in certain Hindu practices, hair is associated with spiritual power and religious devotion. Devotees may grow their hair as an act of spiritual commitment, while rituals involving hair cutting can signify purification and the shedding of past burdens.

These cultural perspectives highlight that hair embodies personal identity, spiritual vitality, and transformation. Consequently, the act of cutting or styling hair transcends aesthetics, becoming a symbolic gesture of renewal, self-love, and emotional release.

  • Sustainability is at the heart of my practice. From using eco-friendly products to recycling as much of salon waste as I can, I’m committed to minimizing my environmental impact. Small steps, like rethinking how we dispose of color tubes or repurposing hair clippings, add up to big changes. Choosing beauty doesn’t have to come at the cost of the planet.
